Reset Guide of Brother TN660 Toner Cartridge Counter Gear

Many times in our life, when the “Replace Toner”, or “Toner Low” warning light is on but you just install a new toner cartridge, we can not help but doubt the quality of the toner and printer vendor. However, perhaps the printer vendor does not deserve your reprimand because this kind of problem usually has nothing to do with the quality of the toner or printer. In fact, this may be just because the toner cartridge is not installed in the correct position or the toner cartridge is not reset correctly. Please calm down and try the following steps maybe help you get rid of these annoying signals.

When should I need to reset the TN660 toner cartridge?

Some Brother toner cartridges may need to be manually reset after replacement.

Situation 1. When you receive a v4ink Brother TN660 toner cartridge, please check if the gear of the toner cartridge is in correct position as the picture at the right side shows. If not, you need to reset the TN660 toner cartridge gear to its correct position.

Situation 2. If you recently installed a v4ink TN660 new toner cartridge and your printer continue to show a warning message such as ‘toner low’ or ‘replace toner’, you may need to re-check whether the toner counter gear is in the correct position. If not, you need to reset the toner cartridge.

If you found that the v4ink toner cartridge counter gear is on the correct position, but the error message still showing on your printer? You may need to  reset the counter on the Brother printer.

Follow the steps below for various series of printers. Your instructions will vary dependant on the series of your Brother printer. These instructions will reset your printer counter and allow you to continue printing.

How to Reset a Toner for Brother DCP Printers

Step 1 – Open the front cover of the printer. The printer should show “replace toner” or “replace drum” .

Step 2 – Then press the up or down button.

Step 3 – When 00 appears on the printer display, press OK and close the front cover.

The warning message should be clear now. Printing will be able to continue.

How to Reset a Toner for Brother HL Printers

Step 1 – Open the front cover and remove toner & drum from the printer. Press the START button.

Step 2 – Install the toner & drum back into the printer.

Step 3 – Press the START button twice and close the front cover.

The warning message should now be clear. Printing will be able to continue.

How to Reset a Toner for Brother MFC Printers

Step 1 – Open the front cover of the printer and press the CLEAR / BACK button.

Step 2 – Press the following buttons on the keypad in this sequence, *, 0 and finally 0.

Step 3 – Close the front cover.

The warning message should now be clear. Printing will be able to continue.
